Writer of over 30 novels, multiple New York Times Best Seller awardee, Philip Roth said “Writing is frustration – it’s daily frustration, not to mention humiliation.” In a New York Times article, written while he announced his retirement from writing, he also went on to say, “writing is like baseball, you fail two thirds of the time.” At AMP Film Studios we wholeheartedly agree. Creative endeavors are frustrating, frustrating and frustrating, not to mention, humiliating, humiliating, humiliating – until we meet someone who connects with our creativity and praises our work (or pitch). So in the spirit of camaraderie, here is too a successful pitch, creating a great story and pinning it on a great structure – because that is all we can do – focus on structure and story – since most of us never are creatively satisfied with our own work.

Philip Roth, one of the most successful writers of our time, and author the 1959 novella Goodbye, Columbus (a humorous portrait of American-Jewish life for which he was awarded the National Book Award for Fiction), the Human Stain, American Pastoral, at 80 years old told the New York Times, that the “days of writing five pages, only to throw them away,” were done. This is the “real” creative process, creation is re-creation (writing than editing).
